Hetti Perkins bares her art+soul - Art Collector

17 August 2010 | October will be a busy month for Art Gallery of New South Wales curator Hetti Perkins. Not only will her new TV show, art+soul, screen on ABC, but an exhibition and book of the same name will also be appearing.

Written and narrated by Perkins and directed by Warwick Thornton, the new documentary series celebrates Indigenous art. "My father once said 'we know we cannot live in the past, but the past lives in us'," she says.

The art+soul exhibition, which opens at AGNSW on 2 October 2010, will present work by over 40 artists including Richard Bell, Ricky Maynard, John Mawurndjul, Naata Nungurrayi and Rusty Peters.

To mark the opening, book launch and TV show, AGNSW is holding an open weekend on 2 to 4 October 2010 to celebrate Aboriginal art and culture. Visitors will be able to meet some of the artists, and artist workshops celebrity talks and film and music events will also be staged.
