| 21 September 2011 | Hetti Perkins, the Art Gallery of New South Wales’s senior curator of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander art, has resigned after 13 years with the gallery. She will finish up in the role at the end of the month. Speaking to The Australian, Perkins said: "You can only get to a certain point within a mainstream institution, and I have reached that point.” She also talked of the need for a public institution dedicated wholly to Indigenous art, something she says she hopes to play a role in setting up. In recent weeks, the long-standing director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Edmund Capon, also announced his resignation. | ||||
