Ian Parry: A Part of the World - Art Collector

Ian Parry bring a grand scale of horizon and seascapes with these multi planed works on canvas. Painting and handling underlie his ambition to create highly articulate colour works, the outcome of countless glazes and scumbles prefaced by a profound knowledge of old master methods. Then there is the blurring of his edges, the sfumato effect originally invented by Leonardo da Vinci to suggest a vague sense of movement.

His rich colour maze highlights the edge of shore, rock features and the colour of light and shade played out over landforms and expansive ocean. Situated in his studio on Bruny Island, Parry provides a powerful emotive response to the drama of natural colour.
