Ian Parry: Tambour - Art Collector

Ian Parry, Tambour, 2018. Oil on linen, 122 x 92cm. Courtesy the artist and Colville Gallery, Tasmania.

These new works by Ian Parry explode with colour and sensuous working and reworking of the paint as abstractions and his navigational charts with plotted course lines that pull the viewer across spaces, while barricades of abstracted rock, shore line and shoals emphasize the safety of the charted course.

Other works allow a semblance of horizon line while acknowledging the dominance and boldness of light in his maritime narratives. Leading us further are abstracted landscape works with structural forms and shapes that dance and push our perspective and perception with colour blocks.

Ian Parry is an established artist with a distinguished exhibiting career since the 1970’s and has represented works in all major public and private collections around Australia including , Parliament House Collection, Maatsuyker Collection Tasmania, Lowenstein Collection, Melb and Janet Holmes a Court, as well as internationally.
