- Craig Ruddy's portrait of filmmaker Warwick Thornton has won the Archibald People's Choice Prize. Ruddy was inspired by Thornton's film Samson & Delilah, commenting ''his film gives a voice to a lost generation who find themselves at the end of a long dark tunnel''. He has titled the portrait The Prince of Darkness - Warwick Thornton. The win echoes Ruddy's 2004 success when he won the Archibald Prize for his portrait of actor David Gulpilil.
- After the first two editions rapidly sold out, The Woodblock Painting of Cressida Campbell is back in print, with a third edition set to reach bookstores on 14 June 2010. The book surveys Cressida Campbell's practice from 1984 to 2008.
- Anita Pettinato, Miles Hall, Peter Hollard, Cezary Stulgis, Kevin Oxley, Rex Backhaus-Smith and Pam Walpole are among the 40 finalists in the Sunshine Coast Art Prize.
