31 August 2010 | Collective duo Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine are the winners of the 2010 Premier of Queensland’s National New Media Award.

The judging panel, which included Queensland Art Gallery director Tony Ellwood and artist and RMIT lecturer Larissa Hjorth, commented: “'The winning entry You Were In My Dream 2010 is a playful work that offers a rare combination of interactivity, narrative and nostalgia... It is wonderful to see a new media work that comments so succinctly on 21st century participatory culture by making the screen so tactile.”

The work is an interactive animation which also sees the viewer’s face incorporated into the work via a live video feed.

The award exhibition, on view at the Queensland Art Gallery until 7 November, also includes Wade Marynowsky, Nigel Helyer and Soda_Jerk.
