Isabel Gomez wins Plein Air Prize - Art Collector

25 May 2010 | Painter Isabel Gomez has won the $20,000 NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize for Newcastle Ports, a six-panel series of oil on canvas works.

Anita Taylor of Sydney's National Art School, who judged the prize, praised the work for presenting ''an immediate and direct painterly equivalence to the experience of observation of light, form and colour of this particular place and subject''.

Gomez was the only artist to have two paintings among the 36 selected works.

This is the third year the Plein Air Prize has been run, attracting a record 214 entries this year.
