Jade Pegler: Cladogenesis - Art Collector

Jade Pegler, Haustorium, 2018. Fabric, thread, yarn, hand and machine stitching, mixed media. Courtesy of The Artist and Gallery 9, Sydney.

For her sixth solo show at the gallery, Jade Pegler presents a series of wall hung fabric works. Coloured threads are loosely stitched into stained pieces of fabric, resembling a process of drawing. Threads loop, hang, condense and unravel to create intricate webs of line and texture. Pegler joins fragments of cloth togther with thin cords that look like umbilical cords. Rarely contained within a whole, each fragment curls and protrudes in its own random direction, as if antennae receiving information, or an organism moving in the the direction of light.
