Jane Giblin: A Rural Testimony - Art Collector

Jane Giblin, Blue Highway Dog, ink and pigment on arches satine, 160 x 120cm. Courtesy: the artist and Colville Gallery, Hobart

The directness of Jane Giblin's drawn line is powerful and immediate. She captures the struggling contested movements of animals, the primitive alertness and sense of predator danger of working dogs, the down stoke of shearers arms, her genre brings smells of the shearing shed, the sweat, dust, noise. These absolutely beautiful images move with an honesty and majesty, and we are drawn into the narrative. The works encompass drawn and print techniques culminating from recent studies at UTAS.
