John Pule receives NZ order of merit - Art Collector

4 September 2012 | Painter and poet John Pule was this week awarded New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the arts.

He received the award from New Zealand Governor-General Jerry Mateparae a ceremony at Government House in Auckland.

In presenting the award, Mataparae quoted Desmond Tutu, according to a post on the Facebook page of Pule’s Auckland dealer Gow Langsford Gallery. "Each one of us can make a contribution,” he said.

“Too frequently we think we have to do spectacular things. Yet if we remember that the sea is actually made up of drops of water and each drop counts, each one of us can do our little bit where we are."
