Julia deVille wins $15,000 Hobart prize - Art Collector

9 October 2012 | Sculptor Julia deVille has won the fibre category in the City of Hobart Art Prize, while Utopia artist Kate Petyarre has won the painting category.

The judging panel, which included Art Gallery of New South Wales curator Natasha Bullock, selected the artists from a field of over 400 entries which was then narrowed down to a shortlist of 35.

Both artists receive $15,000. Also highly commended were Kate James and Megan Keating.

The award exhibition runs until 11 November 2012 at the Tasmanian Museum and Gallery in Hobart.
