|9 October 2012 | Sculptor Julia deVille has won the fibre category in the City of Hobart Art Prize, while Utopia artist Kate Petyarre has won the painting category. |
The judging panel, which included Art Gallery of New South Wales curator Natasha Bullock, selected the artists from a field of over 400 entries which was then narrowed down to a shortlist of 35.
Both artists receive $15,000. Also highly commended were Kate James and Megan Keating.
The award exhibition runs until 11 November 2012 at the Tasmanian Museum and Gallery in Hobart.
