Julie Bartholomew: Tread Carefully - Art Collector

Julie Bartholomew, Subversive Botanica Ziera Prostrata, 2016. Porcelain, 24 x 58 x 9cm. Courtesy of the artist and Beaver Galleries, Canberra.

Julie Bartholomew’s ceramic practice is inspired by contemporary cultural issues and social debates. The exhibition Tread Carefully offers, as the artist explains, “a double edged warning about the dangerous impact of meddling with the environment and simultaneously, our attempts to fix intrusions into natural cycles with scientific methods.” Bartholomew has been exhibiting both nationally and internationally for over twenty five years and her work is represented in collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the WOCEK International Ceramics Collection, Korea.
