Justene Williams wins open award at Fisher's Ghost - Art Collector

13 November 2013 | Multimedia installation artist Justene Williams has won the open award at the 51st Fisher's Ghost Art Award for her work Your Boat My Scenic Personality of Space, pictured above.

There were a host of other prizes awarded at the Fisher's Ghost Art Award opening ceremony. These prizes and winners include:

  • Contemporary Award - Tina Havelock Stevens
  • Printmaking & Drawing Award - Terrence Combos
  • Photography Award - Cathy Drew
  • Traditional Award - Peta Dzubiel
  • Aboriginal Art Award - Elwyn Toby
  • James Gleeson Surrealism Award - Louisa Chircop
  • Macarthur Award - David Hawkes
  • Emerging Artist Award - Brandon Carlos Jean

The open award is the main prize at the award. There were over 80 artists shortlisted, including Paul Snell, Eugenia Raskopoulos, Julie Rrap, Owen Leong, Abdul Abdullah and Peter Alwast.

Williams' receives $20,000 as the winner of the open award, and her work joins the collection of Campbelltown Arts Centre in Sydney's west. Her works are also held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artbank and Monash Gallery of Art.

The Fishers Ghost Art Award exhibition is on display at Campbelltown Arts Centre until 26 December.
