Karyn Taylor: Immaterial Alchemy - Art Collector

Kᾱryn Taylor, Open Concept, 2015. Perspex, 62 x 62 x 6.5cm and Looped Equation II, 2015, Perspex, 40 x 64 x 6.5cm. Courtesy: the artist and Anna Pappas Gallery, Melbourne

Taylor’s work embodies the concept of potentiality. She explores the theory of a space where something can exist and not exist simultaneously – a state where anything is possible, before it collapses into reality. Working with light, shadow and negative space, Taylor creates ephemeral and experiential works. The viewer is challenged to participate with an unseen world, a world of refracted light and the immaterial alchemy of a dual existence. Taylor’s works consider a narrative of endless possibility, rather than a definitive and certain statement. What is possible, what is actual? It is up to the viewer to decide.
