Key staff announcements at the AGNSW and MCA - Art Collector

15 May 2013 | The Art Gallery of New South Wales has announced that Suhanya Raffel has been appointed to the new position of director of collections.

Raffel was the deputy director of curatorial and collection development at the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art. She is a member of the Asia Art Council at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, and serves on numerous local boards including the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trades.

And in continuation of a stellar professional year, Simon Mordant has been re-appointed as chairman of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney for a further three years. He and his wife Catriona donated $15 million to the recently completed redevelopment of the MCA, which helped secure additional private sector support. Mordant is the Australian commissioner for the 2013 and 2015 Venice Biennales and has several prestigious overseas posts including membership of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
