Alcaston Gallery presents the first solo exhibition of the late Kunmanara (Gordon Ingkatji) Let me tell you my story, with the blessing of the artist’s family and Ernabella Arts. The late artist had been working toward this special exhibition for many months and had prepared to travel to attend. Most sadly Kunmanara passed away only days after completing ‘his story’. Let me tell you my story presents ceramics and paintings by this senior Anangu Pitjantjatjara from the APY Lands, South Australia. The artist has presented new paintings and has translated his iconography into ceramic objects. Both sculpture and painting in one, these objects command a powerful presence, steeped in meaning and importance, to tell the artist's stories that will continue on for future generations. The Hon Kyam Maher MLS, South Australian Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation, will be speaking in Parliament in coming weeks offering tribute to this great elder.
