Leslie Rice joins Sophie Gannon Gallery - Art Collector

2 May 2011 | Melbourne’s Sophie Gannon Gallery has taken on representation of Sydney-based painter Leslie Rice.

Rice, who is also a tattoo artist, won the Moran Portrait Prize in 2007 for a self-portrait of the artist serving up his head on a platter. In recent years, he has begun painting on velvet, a technique as unforgiving as tattooing, and has been using the gruesome deaths of Christian martyrs in Rome as his subject matter.

His first exhibition with the gallery will be in early 2012.
