Libby Hackett & Tina Hunter: Nature’s Revelry - Art Collector

Libby Hackett, Hello Cockie 2017. Oil on canvas. 120 x 190cm. Courtesy of the Artist and Art Incubator, Willoughby.

A colourful exhibition of oil paintings depicting Australia’s flora and fauna. Flowers and birds have been painted throughout art history, and their motifs have been used to convey much symbolism–as well as being an inspiration for myths, stories and poetry. Local artists Libby Hackett and Tina Hunter have responded to the multihued array of Sydney’s native and exotic plants and a menagerie of abundant bird life.

One of the primary focus areas of the Gallery’s collection is Australian portraits, and our holdings include a wide range of figurative works that include representations of the proud solitary figure, the classic bust of head and shoulders, the dynamic interaction of a figurative group, and contemporary interpretations of the body.
