Linda Marrinon: Architects! Terracotta! - Art Collector

Linda Marrinon, Figure with Melbourne Cricket Ground, 2018. Terracotta, 34 cm. Courtesy of the artist and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, NSW. Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery is proud to present Linda Marrinon: Architect! Terracotta!, an exhibition featuring new sculptures in plaster and terracotta. Marrinon’s works are informed by feminism and an interest in art history, and display a keen sense of humour. Linda Marrinon emerged in the 1980s with paintings that challenged neoclassical tropes with a mixture of wit, irony, pathos and feminist critique. In the 1990s she began making terracotta works that experimented with the sculptural languages of the 19th century, in particular busts and statuettes. Their domestic scale, material fragility and delicate presence compel our close observation and attentive movement.
