11 October 2010 | Lindy Lee has been named the curator of the 2010 and 2011 Redlands Westpac Art Prize, a prize she won herself in 1998.

She takes the reins from Imants Tillers, who oversaw the prize from 2007 to 2009, and is now responsible for Lee selecting 18 established contemporary Australian or New Zealand artists to participate in the exhibition by presenting new or recent work. Each of the established artists in turn invites an emerging Australian artist to also present new work for the exhibition.

Lee says the award structure offers “emerging artists the chance to seek advice and guidance from their more established peers”.

This year selected artists include Savandhary Vongpoothorn, Kate Beynon, Aaron Seeto and Matthys Gerber while nominees for the emerging artist prize include Nathan Taylor, Mitch Cairns and Stephanie Quirk.

The winners will be selected by a judging panel including Wayne Tunnicliffe of the Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Reuben Keehan of Artspace, with the announcement set to be made prior to the opening of the award exhibition on 20 November 2010 at the Mosman Art Gallery.
