The first major survey show of Yulyurlu Lorna Fencer Napurrurla is finishing its national tour at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre in Katherine, where Napurrurla spent the latter part of her life. The exhibition shows her exuberant and innovative approach to traditional Warlpiri imagery. Often likened to the great Emily Kngwarreye, Napurrurla achieved considerable acclaim during her lifetime as one of the northern desert region’s most prominent and original artists.

The diverse works in the exhibition highlight her approach to the many stories about her ancestral lands, particularly the Yam Dreaming from her homeland in the Tanami Desert. This exhibition is being presented by Mimi Aboriginal Arts and Crafts in association with Artback NT Arts Development and Touring.
