Lucy Culliton & Anna Culliton: Our Animals - Art Collector

Lucy Culliton, Margot, oil on canvas, 80 x 110cm Courtesy the artist & Beaver Galleries.

Our animals is an exhibition by sisters Lucy Culliton and Anna Culliton who both share a love of, and care for, animals. Lucy studied painting at the National Art School, has won the Portia Geach Prize and is a regular finalist in the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes at the Art Gallery of NSW, this year being selected for all three. Lucy cares for rescued and unwanted animals – “42 sheep, 6 horses, 3 cows, a pig, 4 dogs, chooks, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, pigeons, emus and 7 old cockys”. Ceramicist Anna shares her surroundings with native fauna living in the regenerated local bush surrounding her home. Native fauna and flora are the subjects of her works in this exhibition. Both Lucy and Anna are included in the Popular Pet Show, coinciding with this exhibition and opening soon at the National Portrait Gallery.
