Maitland Regional Art Gallery - Art Collector

Maitland Regional Art Gallery attracts over 65,000 visitors annually

Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) delivers high quality, energetic cultural programming for the growing community of Maitland and its visitors.

Established in the early 1970s, MRAG has grown to be one of the state's most vibrant regional galleries, offering 11 exhibition spaces. Unique to MRAG is the dedication of one wing of the building, known as the Art Factory, to creative learning for youth and their families.

The collection

MRAG is home to a wide and varied art collection. Since 2005 it has developed a focus of works on paper by Australian artists from the 18th to 21st centuries. The collection continues to grow with astute purchases as well as generous donations.

Exhibition highlights

MRAG hosts up to 25 exhibitions annually. From 2014 to 2016 celebrated exhibitions will include works by leading Australian artists such as Dick Watkins, Vicki Varvaressos, Kevin Connor, Kerrie Lester and Shaun Tan.

MRAG has an active volunteer program and over 1000 financial members of Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAGM). MRAG membership includes discounts in the gallery shop and MRAG and MRAGM events where there is a fee.
