The Island is Marco Luccio’s inaugural exhibition of paintings, inspired by the monumental and awesome beauty of the rugged coastline at Phillip Island. Known for his bold cityscapes made on rooftops around the world, including New York, Paris and Florence, the artist has shifted from the built environment to the natural. Luccio captures monolithic structures such as the molten rock formation of the Pinnacles, the totem-like formation of Pyramid Rock and the massive cliff edges of the island, painting in situ in whirlwind conditions to capture the movement, energy and power of the Australian coastline.
