Marijke Greenway: The Painted Outback - Art Collector

Marijke Greenway, Ord River Reds. Acrylic, 90 x 80cm. Courtesy: the artist

During 2011 Marijke Greenway set out to explore the great outback, specifically the Kimberley region, and returned with 30 canvasses painted en plein air. During 2012, Greenway worked with the memories and moods inspired by the trip and completed another 30 paintings, much larger and using exaggerated and flamboyant use of colour as well as a different painting language. There are dots for rocks and blobs for trees, but it would be hard to miss the meaning and the presence of the infinite Australian outback.
