MARION BORGELT: MUSICAL GEOMETRY
Marion Borgelt: Musical Geometry - Art Collector
|Oliver Watts, Landscape under the bed 1, 2012. Acrylic on canvas, 120cm x 100cm.|
|A concern with representations of history underpins much of Oliver Watts’ work, which asks the question: How do images command?|
In this exhibition Watts references Kafka’s ‘The Trial’, re-imagining and re-imaging the work of Titorelli, the painter in the novel, to explore painting for both the stories it can tell but also for the baggage it takes with it.
Watts paints with a restrained looseness, his mosaic-like brushstrokes languid and gestural. Watts has a PhD in art history and jurisprudence from the University of Sydney and lectures at the College of Fine Arts (UNSW).
