An Industrious and flourishing visual narrator, Matthew Clarke paints within the small coastal town of Kirkstall in Victoria's South West. Enamoured with the vibrant world that surrounds him, Clarke paints his subjects with an unquestionable spontaneity and conviction. No facet of life is too mundane or too fleeting to avoid drawing Clarke’s engrossing contemplation and intuitive ingenuity. In the manner of a true raconteur of the every day, Clarke's recent works chronicle life within and around his family's rural homestead. With unique acuity, his works tell of an effervescent ecology bursting at the seams with eccentric and dynamic characters.
