Maree Di Pasquale, CEO & Director and Charles Justin Chairperson at fair site Melbourne Art Fair, August 2018

The 2018 Melbourne Art Fair is set for a revamp, with the appointment of new Director and CEO Maree Di Pasquale.

Pasquale brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. She has previously worked as assistant director of Sydney Contemporary, and as founding Director of Hong Kong’s Art Central.

Taking place as part of Melbourne Art Week, the bi-annual Art Fair will showcase up to 50 Australian and international galleries, with an expected 20,000 visitors of the course of the event.

On her aims for revitalising the Fair, Pasquale stated that “The Melbourne Art Fair is set to become the premier showcase for leading Australasian contemporary, and will once again be instrumental in driving critical and commercial attention for galleries and their artists”.

Changes that are set to be made for next years Fair include a new venue. It will be housed at a temporary structure within the Southbank Arts Precinct, alongside the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art.

Pasquale’s fellow board members are supportive of these changes; Melbourne Art Fair board member and Jewish Museum President
Charles Justin emphasised that “Southbank Arts Precinct is the ideal location for the revitalised Melbourne Art Fair as it embodies the creative diversity of its host city”.

Gallery applications commence on 15 July 2017. The Melbourne Art Fair will run from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 August 2018, at the Southbank Arts Precinct.
