Merryn Trevethan: Provable Falsehoods - Art Collector

Merryn Trevethan, Provable Falsehoods, 2017. Acrylic on canvas (diptych), 92 x 264cm. Courtesy of the artist and Fox Galleries, Melbourne.

Merryn Trevethan returns to Australia to exhibit a major new body of work, created since her relocation to Singapore in 2014.

As the title of the show suggests,
Provable Falsehoods is prescient, for the uncertain political and economic times we live in. Trevethan is known for her bold use of colour and in combination with a multi-discipline practice, she creates spatially ambiguous works that focus on our relationship to living in increasingly globalised cities, constantly in a state of flux. Trevethan uses her observations of the cityscape to tease out the uncertainty of perception and the complexity of vision in painting, sculpture and tape drawing.

Provable Falsehoods follows on from last year's solo exhibition at the Australian High Commission in Singapore, large-scale commissions with tech companies and public art projects at Gillman Barracks.
