Miertje Skidmore: Sights Unseen - Art Collector

Miertje Skidmore, Undiscovered Depths, 2013. Solvent based mixed media on canvas, 180 x 120cm. Courtesy: the artist and Manyung Gallery, Victoria

Sights Unseen showcases a body of work that explores the often hidden elements of our planet. The complexities of a piece of quartz, for example, is buried deep in the earth, waiting to mesmerise upon discovery. The many aspects of nature present an endless array of diversity in colour, shape, form and texture, such as the immense power of the ocean or fire, juxtaposed to the gentle and minute details in a leaf or a snowflake. It is these details that Miertje Skidmore reveals in her paintings. Her works are held in private collections around the globe, including in the home of Princess Monika of Germany.
