11 September 2013 | The second Berlin Art Week launches next week and has a number of key Australian artists in its program.

Berlin Art Week features two art fairs, abc - art berlin contemporary and Preview Berlin Art Fair, and a diverse program of exhibitions, events and special projects held in 10 partnering institutions and in additional curated spaces and galleries.

During this week, the work of noted Australian multimedia artist Mike Parr will be shown in Berlin for the first time at Arndt gallery. Parr recently had his first European retrospective in Vienna, and in Berlin his latest video work
Fresh Skin like a Baby (still shown above) will be shown alongside seven large scale print, etching and painting works.

At the Preview Berlin Art Fair, multinational galleriest Michael Reid will exhibit three Australian artists whose work he describes as challenging linear notions of cultural history. The works of Danie Mellor, Brian Robinson and Christian Thomspon will be shown at the fair in an exhibition called Everywhere at all times: Bringing the archive into the contemporary.

Reid will also hold a concurrent exhibition in his Berlin gallery, titled
Australian Landscape, present in the now. It will feature Mellor, Robinson and Thompson alongside several other notable Australian artists. Berlin Art Week takes place throughout Berlin from 17 until 22 September 2013.
