NPG unveils new commission - Art Collector

15 June 2010 | Canberra's National Portrait Gallery has unveiled a major Brook Andrew commission, a portrait of Indigenous rights activist Marcia Langton.

Andrew has chosen to cast Langton as a powerful goddess in command of the earth's elemental forces, and has also incorporated the familiar diamond patterning sourced from traditional Wiradjuri markings.

The work has been funded by Marilyn Darling, a key patron of the National Portrait Gallery, and will join the gallery's contemporary collection.
