New models, new money - Art Collector

28 September 2010 | Australian artists may be a step closer to having their own foundation. First proposed by Arts Queensland and UNSW’s Centre for Social Impact in a discussion paper, funds have now been secured from Federal and State governments as well as private sources to undertake a feasibility study.

The foundation would be the first of its kind in Australia. Its aim would be to bring together public, private and corporate funding for artists, complementing existing funding sources as well as exploring new forms of support.

A team of arts, finance and legal consultants will work on the feasibility study over the next four months, managed through the Positive Solutions office in Brisbane. The study will look at the need for the foundation, appropriate governance and administration and the sustainability of the funding and business model.

The public consultation period will run to 15 October 2010. Responses and discussion points should be directed to Cathy Hunt, For more information, visit the project website
