Melbourne-based Paul Margocsy is a widely celebrated artist with a distinguished career. He is particularly known for his portrayals of Australian birds. Although he describes himself as a self-taught artist, he has undertaken extensive research into ornithology. Margocsy says, “I consider myself very lucky that I am able to portray nature in such a way that the public enjoy it just as much as I do painting it. Having been a wildlife artist for 35 years, I continue to be amazed at the things I am still learning. I endeavor to give my subjects different characters and expressions. Movement is essential in the way I show the emotions of birds and animals”.
