|19 September 2012 | This year’s Geelong Contemporary Art Prize has been announced, with Paul Ryan’s diptych Wild colonial boys winning the 2012 biennial acquisitive award for contemporary painting.|
Ryan was announced the winner by guest judge Susan McCulloch, an art writer and curator. McCulloch says that Wild colonial boys “reflects a truly contemporary view on a fundamentally important and often uncomfortable subject”.
A total of 45 works from this year’s prize entries have been selected for the finalists exhibition, which is on display at Geelong Gallery until 18 November 2012.
