Kuruwarriyingathi Bijarrb Paula Paul is one of the so-called seven sisters including Sally Gabori, Dawn Naranatjil, May Moodoonuthi, Netta Loogatha, Ethel Thomas and Amy Loogatha who literally burst into the art world with their enchanting works during 2005. This survey exhibition will show the diversity and beauty of her art, inspired by the Kaiadilt family of Bentinck Island through a hand-picked selection of her paintings that span across her short but important artistic career. Her evocative and beautifully coloured artwork describe the flat reefs and oysters in and around her country on Bentinck Island. Her work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Queensland Art Gallery in Brisbane.
