Philip Wolfhagen: Proposition - Art Collector

Philip Wolfhagen, Second Proposition: chromatic scene for autumn twilight, 2013. Oil and beeswax on linen, 5 panels, 320 x 151cm. Courtesy: the artist and Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney
Capturing landscapes that appear to be in a constant state of sunset, Philip Wolfhagen’s works evoke the transience of time. He visualises an intrinsic romanticism in nature, echoing moments and stories of his childhood. Wolfhagen’s vertical paintings, often diptychs and triptychs, reference a collective anxiety in an increasingly urbanised society.
