Pippin Drysdale and Brian McKay to receive lifetiime acheivement award - Art Collector

9 May 2011 | Western Australian artists Pippin Drysdale and Brian McKay have been named recipients of Artsource’s Lifetime Achievement Awards 2011.

The award seeks to pay respect to Western Australian artists who have been contributing and practising visual arts both in Australia and internationally for over 30 years.

Drysdale, a ceramicist based in Freemantle has been creating bodies of works inspired by the contours and colour s of the Australian landscape since the 1980s. Her body of work has been exhibited and acquired by museums and galleries both locally and internationally.

Brian McKay, born in Meckering comes from a background in motor racing and graphics. His modernist abstractions have been heavily influenced by his time in Greece in the 1960s. Upon his return to Australia, he was also involved with the establishment of PICA Perth’s Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Both McKay and Drysdale will receive their awards at the Art Gallery of Western Australia 25 May 2011.
