Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran has won the Sidney Myer Fund Australian Ceramic Art Award. Worth $50,000, the biennial award is a premier prize for ceramic artists in Australia.
Kirsten Paisley, a co-judge of the award from the National Gallery of Australia, said that she found Nithiyendran's ceramics "exceptionally exciting", elaborating that "his work evokes the energy and reverence of the deity while embodying the playfulness of a story-book action hero".
