Robert Hague: Colossus (after Goya) - Art Collector

Robert Hague, Colossus (after Goya), 2017. Lithograph on cotton rag paper, edition of 20, 70 x 70cm. Courtesy of the artist and MARS Gallery.

Goya’s Giant (1818) turns his head as if disturbed from thought. He sits naked within a distant landscape since lost to catastrophic environmental change (The White Terraces, Blomfield 1884). The things that shape us, our childhood and the world in which we are born, they are fragile things that so often we fail to value until they are lost. This is a deeply personal work (I am Goya’s giant) about the world that I left behind.

To coincide with the launch of the new lithograph by Robert Hague the side of MARS Gallery will have a giant 3 metre paste up of the work.
