Robert Jacks is one of Australia’s most significant and influential abstract artists. After his inclusion in the groundbreaking NGV exhibition The Field of 1968, Jacks travelled overseas, living and working in America and Canada. During his time in New York, Jacks developed his own unique abstract language which continued to evolve over the future decades. This exhibition presents a tightly curated group of paintings spanning 1987-1994, beginning with the futuristically inspired Metropolis series and ending with the majestic large scale geometric assemblages, which typify the paintings of the 90s. The National Gallery of Victoria is currently exhibiting a major Robert Jacks retrospective exhibition.
