Robert Smith and Glenn Whitbread are both award winning landscape artists. One lives in Tasmania and used oils, pastels, pen, ink and pencil to produce a series of exquisite small-format artworks inspired by a roadtrip to Australia's top end. The other lives in country NSW and uses bold brush strokes and high contrast colours to create large-format abstract expressionist paintings of local vistas; often painting the same scene from different angles, in different seasons or at different times of day, to explore the interplay of light and perspective. What's unusual about Smith and Whitbred is that they are first cousins who lost touc' almost forty years ago, until a series of unrelated events led them both to Gallery V in Sydney. In an emotion-charged exhibition, the artworks of these two cousins is presented under the same roof for the first time.
