Pan-O-Mania presents a pastiche of historic events, trends and cultural shifts. These works take inspiration from the post-war era of the 1950s through to the early 1970s, with a particular focus on the Tiki phenomenon; a blind cultural appropriation of Pacific culture for cashed-up Westerners. Tupou's cultural roots are embedded in Polynesia, and he explores his ironic fascination with this particular cultural homage.
