Scott Eady: 192 Queen Street - Art Collector

Scott Eady, Beethoven, 2013. Plaster, 175 x 50 x 32cm. Courtesy: the artist and RH Gallery, Auckland.

192 Queen Street is as an extension of artist Scott Eady’s object-based sculptural practice; a continuation of his ongoing interrogation of the nature and function of contemporary sculpture in the gallery context. The artist presents a combination of salvaged re-created and beautifully restored objects that occupy and take over the space.

The objects are embedded with provenance - documents that invite a glimpse into the past; a family business, generations of skills handed down from father to son, heritage buildings, music, and the realities of a rapidly changing commercial economy where a diverse culture clashes with traditional aspirations. The exhibition is a collection of objects and images that explore past, present and future in the real time of the exhibition space.
