Shortlist announced for New Media Award - Art Collector

13 July 2010 | Eight artists are in the running for biennial $75,000 Premier of Queensland's New Media Award.

From New South Wales, Nigel Helyer, Wade Marynowsky, Soda_Jerk and Lynette Walworth have been selected, with Philip Brophy and the collaborative duo Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerine shortlisted from Victoria. Chris Howlett from Queensland rounds out the field.

The works in this year's prize span a range of new technologies, including digital animation, gaming, robotics, sound sculpture and interactive media.

This year's judging panel draws on the expertise of RMIT academic Larissa Hjorth, the Performance Space's Bec Dean and Queensland Art Gallery director Tony Ellwood.

The winner will be announced on 27 August 2010, with the finalists exhibition running from 28 August to 7 November 2010 at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.
