Solo Exhibition: Bill Culbert - Art Collector

Bill Culbert, 'Yet to be titled', 2018, fluorescent light, electrical cords, recycled plastic bottles, 39x120x13 cm. Courtesy of the artist and Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, NSW. Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery is delighted to present a solo exhibition featuring new works by Bill Culbert. Culbert’s sculpture demonstrates his inventiveness and illumination, opacity, shadow, transparency and reflection with found material. From suitcases pierced with fluorescent tubes, repurposed furniture, vast arrays of reclaimed plastic containers, Culbert’s works celebrate common things and imbues them with poetic presence. While renowned for his economy, wit, and ‘light touch' Culbert’s art also: “conveys an ethical challenge: to be alert, to participate, to converse.” - in the words of New Zealand writer and critic Ian Wedde.
