Solo Exhibition: Rusty Peters - Art Collector

Rusty Peters, Theliny theliny-warriny: Two Mothers for the Moon 2012. Natural ochre on canvas. 80 x 100cm

One of the most distinguished artists from the Kimberley, Peters has been represented in major public art museum exhibitions which have explored and challenged important historic events in his country. For example Peters' painting Chinaman's Garden Massacre which tells the story of yet another tragedy was purchased by the AGNSW in 2001 and then shown with another work by Peters, Blackfella Murdered in Australia, in the Blood on the Spinifex exhibition in 2002 at the Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne. These exceptional landscape paintings reinforce Peters as one the most influential, creative landscape artists working in the Kimberley and Australia.
