Metabolism maps how a city functions – how quickly and efficiently its residents come together or apart. It is the rate at which a city grows, transforms, re-builds or slows down; like a biological process. What it means to metabolise is told across two cities; Tokyo and Kiev – both homes for Stanislava Pinchuk (Miso). The first, ‘Coming Together' maps people in celebration in Tokyo in images of mountains, spiderwebs and fireworks. The second 'Coming Apart' similarly aerially maps movements by protesters, police & militias collated from available news sources in Kiev throughout 2014 in images of bulletholes, broken windows and bomb blasts.
