|15 May 2013 | The Biennale of Sydney has just announced details confirmed for its 19th installment, which will run next year.|
Artistic director Juliana Engberg has released the names of 18 international artists already confirmed for the biennale. They are: Yael Bartana, Ulla von Brandenberg, Mircea Cantor, David Claerbout, Yingmei Duan, Krisztina Erdei, Douglas Gordon (pictured above), Henna-Riikka Halonen, Roni Horn, Mikhail Karikis, Laurent Montaron, Agnieszka Polska, Augustin Rebetez, Maxime Rossi, Wael Shawky, John Stezaker, Corin Sworn and Tori Wrånes.
Major venues confirmed include the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney and Cockatoo Island. The full artist and venue list will be released later this year.
The 19th Biennale of Sydney will be called You Imagine What You Desire and seeks to explore the urge of contemporary artists to create immersive and expanded environments. It will run from 21 March until 9 June 2014.
And in separate bienniale news, director of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Nick Mitzevich, has been announced as the curator of the 2014 Adelaide Biennal of Australian Art. It will run from 28 February until 16 March 2014.
