The second edition of Sydney Contemporary has been heralded a success, with 30,150 people through the door and an impressive $14 million in sales.

Tim Etchells, founder of Sydney Contemporary, said the visitor turnout and documented sales was unprecedented: “We’re delighted that we’ve exceeded both our sales and visitor targets, as well as adding a new element this year with the inaugural Sydney Art Week. The feedback that we’ve received has been extremely positive from exhibitors, with participating galleries reporting very strong sales.”

Fair director Barry Keldoulis agreed. “Sydney Contemporary 2015 has been successful in showing to an expanded audience some of the best contemporary art from across a wide spectrum, both culturally and in terms of the mediums used to express the artists’ concerns. The visitors, galleries and artists all seem very happy, so I am very happy!”
